Stefano De Luigi

Cologne-born Italian photographer Stefano De Luigi (1964) lives in Paris, where from 1989 to 1996, he worked for the Louvre Museum.

He has published some seven books: Pornoland (Thames & Hudson 2004), Blanco (Trolley2010), iDyssey (Edition Bessard 2017), Babel, co-edited with Michela Battaglia (Postcart Edition 2018), Pornoland redux (own edition 2021), Il Bel Paese (L’Artiere 2023), Televisiva (L’Artiere 2024).

He won numerous awards including 4 times the World Press Photo (1998-2007-2010-2011), the Eugene Smith Fellowship Grant (2008), the Getty Grant for editorial photography and Days Japan (2010), Syngenta prize (2015), Bourse a la création du Centre National Cinéma (2018) France, Planches Contact artistic residency Deauville (2021), Strategie Fotografiche Grant, Minister of Culture, Italy (2022).

He has worked for several international publishers including New Yorker, Geo, Paris Match, Stern, Internazionale.
Stefano exhibited his work in New York, Washington, Paris, Geneva, Milan, Rome, London, Belgrade, Istanbul, Athens, and others.

From 2008, Stefano De Luigi has been a photographer and lecturer at the VII Foundation.

Blanco, visions of blindnes

From 2003 to 2010, Stefano worked on Blindness, his most important work, which lasted eight years. A photographic project about the living conditions of blind and visually impaired people around the world. Blindness received the patronage of Vision 2020 – World Health Organisation and won the W.E. Smith Fellowship Grant in 2007.
