In de wandelgang van dienstencentrum Pelle Melle tonen we u de bekroonde foto’s uit de categorie ‘Urban Jungle’ van de Belgian Photo Awards 2025.
Deze competitie is een initiatief van beroepsfotografen.be in het kader van de officiële meesterschapswedstrijden vanuit het Kabinet van Werk, Middenstand en Kmo’s en zet het uitzonderlijke vakmanschap en de creatieve visie van Belgische fotografen in de kijker.

VIZUALIZATOR is een internationaal fotografiefestival in Belgrado, Servië, dat zich richt op professionele fotografie met de nadruk op documentaire fotografie. Het festival is een multidisciplinair evenement dat instellingen en individuen uit verschillende culturele, educatieve, media- en kunstdomeinen samenbrengt.

Dit jaar wordt Vizualizator in Pelt vertegenwoordigd door een selectie foto’s uit de competitie Press Photo Serbia, die een jaarlijks overzicht biedt van de beste werken in de Servische media. Deze tentoonstelling promoot visueel vertellen en mediageletterdheid en toont hoge normen van ethiek en professionaliteit in fotojournalistiek.

Het festival omvat ook tentoonstellingen die werken tonen van wereldberoemde fotografen en lokale exposanten, paneldiscussies over belangrijke onderwerpen op het gebied van fotografie, evenals workshops, portfolio-reviews en masterclasses. Festival Vizualizator heeft tot doel onderwijs en professionele normen te bieden op het gebied van fotografie. Vizualizator onderzoekt fotografie als een sociaal fenomeen, een krachtig mediawijsheid en een artistieke expressie, met de nadruk op curatoriële praktijk, de theorie van fotografie en de rol van fotografie in journalistiek.

February 15, 2023, Belgrade – Firefighters battle a blaze that broke out at a tire warehouse in the Galenika neighborhood. Sixty firefighters managed to stop the fire from spreading to surrounding buildings and reduced the impact of the environmental disaster.

Al-Qosh, Iraq, March 23, 2024. Lazarus Saturday is an important celebration in the Christian liturgical calendar, especially for Oriental Orthodox churches, as well as for some Eastern Catholic churches such as the Chaldean Catholic Church. In Al-Qosh, a Christian town in northern Iraq inhabited by Assyrians, Lazarus Saturday holds special significance. It commemorates the resurrection of Lazarus, as described in the New Testament, where Jesus raises Lazarus from the dead four days after his burial. Palm Sunday is also an important event for the local community in Al-Qosh, a Christian Assyrian town in the Nineveh Province of Iraq. The day marks Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem, as described in the New Testament, where people laid palm branches in his path. In Al-Qosh, the celebration also serves as a symbol of the community’s resilience and the preservation of its cultural and religious heritage amid the broader challenges facing the region.

ANA BATRIČEVIĆ – Prison life

The photo was taken as part of the PrisonLIFE project, financially supported by the Ministry of Science, Technological Development, and Innovation, which aims to study prison life conditions in order to improve the rehabilitation of convicted individuals.

SRĐAN ILIĆ – Mass murder

The multiple murder at the Experimental Primary School ‘Vladislav Ribnikar’ occurred on May 3, 2023, when a student of the school, K. K., opened fire on students and staff at the school. He killed ten people (nine students and a security guard) and wounded six others (five students and a teacher). The police quickly arrested the perpetrator, later identified as a thirteen-year-old seventh-grade student of the school, referred to by the initials K. K.
